If golf is your game, Frisco has both public and private courses, including the award-winning Stonebriar Country Club. Other courses in the area include The Golf Club at Frisco Lakes, Plantation Golf Course at Plantation Resort and The Trails of Frisco Golf Club, all of which are open to the public. The beautiful weather of North Texas means golf can be a year-round sport.
Frisco is also home to Minor League Baseball’s Frisco Roughriders, the AAA ball club of the Texas Rangers. Dr. Pepper Ballpark is considered one of the premier parks in Minor League Baseball, and with a season that begins in April and carries through to the Fall, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy a game. Frisco is also home to the Major League Soccer franchise FC Dallas, which calls Toyota Stadium its home field for exciting professional soccer action, and for basketball, you can check out the games at Dr. Pepper Arena where the NBA Dallas Maverick’s minor league team, the Texas Legends, are making basketball history.
Perhaps most importantly for residents of North Texas, the Dallas Cowboys and the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars also call Frisco home for training and practice, and the Dallas Stars Dr. Pepper Star Center ice rink in Frisco offers open ice skating, hockey leagues from youth through adult, as well as opportunities for budding ice skaters to hone their skills.
Frisco Shopping & Community Services
The Stonebriar Centre in Frisco offers a cool escape from the summer heat, and with more than 165 stores and entertainment venues, it’s well-known as the area’s premier shopping center. Stonebriar Centre is not only popular with city residents, it’s also a shopping destination for residents from throughout the Metroplex. Frisco Square on Main Street is considered the downtown area of the city, and in addition to numerous restaurants and shops, it’s the home for Frisco City Hall, the Frisco Public Library and other city services. You’ll find every major retailer in Frisco, including the DFW area’s largest IKEA store.
